SPLICE Institute is a weeklong, intensive summer program for performers and composers interested in music combining live performance and electronics. Applications are now being accepted for SPLICE Institute 2019, which will take place June 23-29, 2019 at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI.
This year SPLICE Institute will explore best practices and entrepreneurshipin technology-mediated composition and performance. Composers with concert collaboration will be paired with participant performers, Ensemble Dal Niente, or the SPLICE Ensemble to write and premiere a new work at the Institute.

  • Beginning, intermediate, and advanced composition and performance workshops with guest composer Kyong Mee Choi and SPLICE Faculty
  • Entrepreneurship sessions with Ben Melsky from Dal Niente
  • Microprocessing workshop with guest faculty Eli Fieldsteel
  • Performer/composer collaboration projects
  • Concerts performed by Ensemble Dal Niente, SPLICE Ensemble, and solo performances by Ben Melsky and performance faculty
