BERLIN - Tomorrow: Kiezsalon opening at Zionskirche! After the escape: Photo exhibition in response to the war in Ukraine.

 

Dear friends and music lovers, The Kiezsalon season opening is tomorrow, starting with 2 premieres on Friday followed by another 2 on Saturday, at the historic Zionskirche.   We are excited to present concerts over two evenings from Jason Sharp, Tarta Relena, Richard Skelton and Booker Stardrum, paired with 3 excellent spring wines for our special opening weekend.     Catalan “progressive Gregorian” folk duo Tarta Relenaemerge from centuries of tradition to conjure something mystical, musically without precedent yet emotionally familiar. Listen to Tu Ase Turpa Ikavi from the album Fiat Lux.   Montrealer Jason Sharp uses extended saxophone technique and biofeedback from the body to create formidable, visceral, highly evocative, electronic compositions. Check out Velocity of Being from The Turning Centre Of A Still World on Constellation.     Seminal British musician Richard Skelton’s latest work embraces cello, woodwinds, bowed cymbal and piano for a darkly thrilling drift through acoustic and electronic domains. Listen to The First Point of Contraction from A Guidonian Hand.   Booker Stardrum is a Los Angeles-based percussionist whose live solo sets seamlessly synthesize acoustic and electronic sounds with deconstructed and reimagined recorded and collected sounds. Book yours before they sell out.     Book your ticket now     The photo exhibition After the Escape will run alongside our Kiezsalon. The exhibition is in response to the war in Ukraine. We invite our guests to take the opportunity to visit the exhibition around and between the concerts.   The exhibition will feature work by photographers from the Ostkreuz Agency taken during the ongoing war in Ukraine, as well as portrayals of people who have since sought refuge here in Germany. The Records of Wararchive is also part of the exhibition and Vitsche Cultureand Kateryna Mishchenko from Ukraine will curate the accompanying programme of events.     As always, thank you for your support.   We look forward to seeing you this weekend.
