Successful Kiezsalon opening • Next Salon at Bärenzwinger this Saturday is fully booked • Kiezsalon is part of the 21 Sunsets festival at Haus der Kulturen der Welt

Dear friends and music lovers,

What a great feeling it was to reopen the Kiezsalon again this Saturday. Many thanks to everyone who came. Here are a few impressions from a beautiful evening at Gärten der Welt and a nice review.

The Berliner Zeitung featured Michael Rosen in this interview ahead of the opening, discussing this year's Kiezsalon programming and other exciting new projects for 2021.

Our next Kiezsalon at the Bärenzwinger at Köllnischer Park in Berlin-Mitte is already this Saturday. The former bear pit once housed Berlin's heraldic animals and currently serves as a cultural venue for site-specific contemporary art in Mitte.

We will present Irish musician Liam Byrne, performing expectation defying contemporary compositions on his viola da gamba. At least that's what the The New York Times says about him.

Dutch minimalist composer and lute player Jozef van Wissem, who won the Cannes Soundtrack Award for the score of Jim Jarmusch’s film Only Lovers Left Alive, will also perform, as well as American, Berlin-based percussionist and composer Robyn Schulkowsky.

Unfortunately this show is already fully booked. We are sorry and hope to return to the Bärenzwinger next year.

Only a few more tickets are available for the first of two Kiezsalons in August: the rescheduled evening with Kazakh/British violinist Galya Bisengalieva and Norwegian-Mexican ambient composer Carmen Villainperforming at Villa Elisabeth in Berlin-Mitte. The tickets for the originally scheduled Kiezsalon in 2020 are still valid.

We’re happy to have added Berlin-based composer and sound artist Maya Shenfeld to the lineup. Her debut solo album In Free Fall will be coming out on Thrill Jockey this October — listen to the first single Mountain Larkspur.

In addition to our Kiezsalon at Haus der Kulturen der Welt in September, we’re very happy to announce that we will be a part of this year’s 21 Sunsets festival happening July 30th on their beautiful rooftop terrace.

We are presenting 3 Berlin-based acts: low brass ensemble Zinc & Copper, the analog synthesis and tape-loops of composer Marta De Pascalis and the imaginative pop soundscapes of Golden Diskó Ship.
