Kiezsalon w/ Perila, James Ginzburg and Molero @ Haus der Kulturen der Welt

Dear friends and music lovers,

After the success of the last year’s joyful sunset Kiezsalon, the next installment takes us back to the beautiful rooftop terrace of the Haus der Kulturen der Welt with 3 premieres for the last open-air concert there.

We are glad to present the album release of St. Petersburg-born, evocative sound artist Perila, the album premiere of Subtext label founder and one half of EmptysetJames Ginzburg, and the Berlin premiere of Venezuelan-born sound artist Molero, for a provocative exploration of Western exoticism.

Perila

Perila is a St. Petersburg-born, Berlin-based sound and visual artist, DJ and performer tracing sensitive borderlines with immersive ambient explorations. Her music challenges boundaries, creating dense narratives drifting through a rich sound palette submerging the listener into a personal trip. Constantly shifting moods and textures, Perila creates a space for emotions to float, merge, and evaporate.

Listen to Reality Scan and read the great review from our friends at Pitchfork.

James Ginzburg

Berlin-based James Ginzburg is an artist and musician whose work has encompassed experimental electronic music and art production, folk music, film score and extensive dance music production. He is one half of Emptyset, the Bristol duo who have seen releases on the likes of Thrill Jockey, Raster-Noton and Ginzburg's own Subtext.

Listen to Absence Intact and check out The Quietus on the album he will premiere at Kiezsalon.

Molero

Alexander Molero, a Venezuelan composer of electronic music based on analog synthesizers, has lived in Barcelona for some years. It is from Europe that he seeks to project back to his home continent and capture romantic European visions of the tropical "new world."

For his Berlin premiere he will perform ‘Ficciones del Trópico’, his exceptional conceptual debut album, which touches on themes of the Western obsession with tropical exoticism.

Listen to Phasma Gigas, from the 'highly recommended' LP in this review from Boomkat
