=====================

10th July 2018
A Penny Beautiful for Catherine Eddowes is a work for 2-channel playback, commissioned by Nick Luscombe (BBC Radio 3 Late Junction/Musicity).

Composed as a response to both the architecture and history of Mitre Square (Aldgate), London – synonymous with Jack the Ripper and 19th century 'Penny Dreadful' literature – the work shifts focus more importantly and respectfully onto Catherine Eddowes, a victim of the Whitechapel Murders, and is conceived for her as an electroacoustic 'garden of remembrance'.

Presented live at the Erased Tapes Sound Gallery, London, it will be subsequently available as a download through Musicity.

23rd August 2018
Dear Richard… An Initial Encounter
Wagner Museum, Bayreuth

Commissioned by Dr. Katharina Fink (Universität Bayreuth) and the Wagner Museum Bayreuth, this new electroacoustic work documents an initial encounter between Richard Wagner and Morton Feldman.

Wagner, a composer of not insubstantial musical works, sends his portfolio – of which he is enormously proud – to American composer Morton Feldman, curious to hear the latter's opinion.

Feldman takes it upon himself to offer Wagner constructive criticism, something which develops into regular, long-distance composition lessons from Feldman.

Tonight, the audience will be hearing just some of the results of this first composition lesson, the outcome of an initial encounter between two quite different worlds. To be continued.
