MUSIC IN NEW TECHONOLOGIES FORUM
November 15th to 18th - Halifax, Nova Scotia
Vocalypse
Productions in association with the University of King’s College and
Upstream Music Association presents MINT – Music in New Technologies
Forum, November 15th to 18th, 2018.
This
inaugural forum will focus on the following questions. How can advances
in new technologies change the experience of making music (the
musician’s perspective) and listening to music (the audience’s
perspective)? What are the musical and performative implications and
applications of the vast array of new technologies that are now
emerging?
The main thrust of MINT will NOT be
the presentation of academic papers. Rather, we will solicit
presentations that include demonstrations, performances, audio/visual
samples, and as much music making as possible.
We
are accepting proposals for performative lectures, presentations, and
performances (10 to 15 minutes) from established or emerging artists
which focus on 3 main themes:
• The voice and new technologies • Improvisation and new technologies • New Musical Interfaces
If
you have an idea which does not fit into the above categories we would
still love to hear from you. MINT is open to topics such as artificial
intelligence and music, music and the mind, or any other topic which
taps into music and technologies which are forward thinking and
current. Are you using old technologies in new ways? Send us a
proposal!
Performances
will be peppered throughout the conference. We will accept proposals
for performances of a through composed or improvised works which
incorporate new technology for consideration in our performance
schedule! Tell us about it.
What we require: • A recent biography •
Would you like to present a performative lecture, an interactive
exhibit, or a performance of your work with new technology? Give us a
title! • A proposal which outlines the topic you would like to speak about and the amount of time you require. • 2 to 3 links to videos of your work, if applicable.
Deadline for submissions is September 1st, 2018 Notification of application status: September 8th, 2018
For

present/perform or do not wish to apply to present/perform you can

will be dedicated to as much networking, interfacing with technology,
and performance as possible. Registration fees for the full forum are
