Keeping up the momentum, the Kiezsalon resumes on Thursday, 30 May at ausland with the Berlin debuts of Argentinian surrealist pop performer Morita Vargas and Hong Kong-born electro-acoustic musician Amma Ateria. Buy Tickets Morita Vargas (AR) Thursday, 30 May 2024 Born and raised in Argentina, Morita Vargas is a composer, singer and performer who blends traditional and contemporary approaches.   Her albums Mandrágora and 8 traverse dream pop and ambient sounds, fluctuating from whispers to screams, for a reverb-heavy style she terms “hybrid fantasy”. Providing a show full of aesthetic resources with visual interventions, Morita takes on the role of the sound narrator of a new language. In 2023, she was selected as a SHAPE+ artist of the year. Listen on Bandcamp Amma Ateria (US) Thursday, 30 May 2024 Born in Hong Kong, Amma Ateria is an electroacoustic composer and sound artist based in San Francisco and New York City. Navigating between oppositions through tension and release, her composition process embodies the realisation of self-hypnosis and auditory hallucinations.   During her process of cognitive recovery following a traumatic head injury, Amma developed her album CONCUSSSSION I, released in 2023. The record delves into her experiences of neurological disorientation, varying states of consciousness & unconsciousness and feelings of isolation. Amma will present this work in Berlin for the first time. Renowned for supporting avant-garde performances and boundary-pushing acts, ausland showcases both local and international artists in an intimate atmosphere.   After venturing to ausland to present Phew for our Kiezsalon im Exilback in 2019, we are pleased to return to host our first proper edition of Kiezsalon.   Due to limited capacity, buying tickets in advance is recommended.
