View in browser Dear friends and music lovers,   For an especially intimate edition of our Kiezsalon, we head northeast to ausland with two acts from North and South America both making their Berlin debuts: Amma Ateria brings her concept-laden sonic studies and Morita Vargas her surrealist pop experimentation.   We are also happy to host Nepalese-born, Berlin-based sound artist and curator Nischal Khadka as our selector for the evening. Amma Ateria (US) Thursday, 30 May 2024 Electroacoustic composer and sound artist Amma Ateria’s work examines psychoacoustics in binaural beats, brainwave entrainment and equal-loudness contour. These sonic explorations find resonance on her record CONCUSSSSION I.   Amma’s compositions are guided by a central philosophy—to give strength to disintegration and fragility, to rebuild from aftermath. This ethos permeates her work, lending it a raw and emotive quality. Listen on Bandcamp Morita Vargas (AR) Thursday, 30 May 2024 Buenos Aires-based singer, composer and performer Morita Vargas, is known for her blend of traditional and contemporary approaches.   Morita's discography seamlessly weaves between dream pop and ambient genres, transitioning from whispers to screams, enveloped in her signature style characterised by lush reverberations. Providing a show full of aesthetic resources with visual interventions, Morita takes on the role of the sound narrator of a new language. Listen on Bandcamp Nischal Khadka (DJ) Thursday, 30 May 2024 Working across continents and mediums, Nischal Khadka boasts a broad cultural output. In 2022, he established a nonprofit organisation Transhimalaya Foundation for Transdisciplinary Creativity with the aim of making new art accessible to the public in the Himalayan region. He has also curated a four-part radio episode The Transhimalayan Network for SAVVY Contemporary.   At the time of writing this newsletter, the Kiezsalon had recently sold out.
