| Dear friends and music lovers, In two weeks, the Kiezsalon returns to the Collegium Hungaricum for a full weekend program with composer Lisa Lerkenfeldt, hurdy-gurdy revivalist András Németh, Polish guitarist Raphael Rogińskiand the Hungarian DJ duo Lazy Calm Raga, performing on Saturday, 29 June. This is following Friday’s lineup of Derek Piotr, Petra Várallyay, Stefan Schultze and James K. Tickets for each evening are available for 10 euros. | | | Lisa Lerkenfeldt (AU)Saturday, 29.06.2024 | Australian composer Lisa Lerkenfeldt employs magnetic tape loops, piano and field recordings to create her dissolving worlds. Her latest album, Suite For The Drains, delves into the hallucinatory nature of echoes within stormwater networks, described by Resident Advisor as "a journey through subterranean darkness that ends in a wash of blinding light." | | | Raphael Rogiński (PL)Saturday, 29.06.2024 | Hailing from Poland, Raphael Rogiński is a guitarist and researcher of musical folklore. Trained in jazz and classical music, his education has further included a background in musicology and ethnomusicology, all of which has informed his composition and performance styles. In reviewing his 2023 album for Instant Classic, Talàn, Pitchforknoted: “the numinous power in his instrumental songs – enchanted, uncanny, swarming with ghosts.” | | | András Németh (HU)Saturday, 29.06.2024 | Budapest-born András Németh originally graduated as a biologist, which influenced his approach to music. He is constantly experimenting with the hurdy-gurdy, expanding the possibilities of its acoustic monotonic sound. His years of research in village music, the influences of other musical genres, and his sensitive perception of the world make him one of the most innovative interpreters of the hurdy-gurdy. | | | The Hungaricum's exhibition Metamorphoses of an Archive — Seeds of Culture, will be open late especially for Kiezsalon guests. Unfolding over the course of this year, the show features site-specific artworks that incorporate and reflect upon the history of this institution. | | We look forward to sharing a weekend of music, art and conversation with you. Book your tickets before they sell out. | Until then, Michael Rosen & Team | | |
