Liebe Weggefährten und Interessierte,
die letzten Wochen haben wir viel erlebt: Wir waren in Kanada, mit dem neugegründeten Musikernetzwerk Sabdagatitara, konnten dort mit tollen kanadischen Musiker*innen zusammenspielen und hatten schöne Konzerte in Montreal und Toronto. Zurück in Berlin ging es wieder in die Staatsoper, als Teil der Sustainable Listening Reihe. Ausserdem gab es DJ-Sets bei Drop Out im Club der Visionäre und beim Karneval der Kulturen, die uns gezeigt haben, wie viel uns auflegen noch immer bedeutet und wie sehr es uns Spass macht.
Auch das jährliche Strassenfest vor dem Kulturraum Zwingli-Kirche am Rudolfplatz, dieses Mal mit Candie Hank aka Patric Catani, Ravi Srinivasan und Hannes, bleibt in Erinnerung: Es gibt viel zu wenig Gelegenheiten, dass Eltern, Kinder und Großeltern zusammen tanzen können.
Davon beschwingt richten wir nun den Blick nach vorne. Es gibt weitere Gelegenheiten uns zu hören - u.a. in unserer Heimat, der Oberpfalz, zusammen mit unserem Vater, mit Robyn Schulkowsky auf der Fusion und mit Hackedepicciotto in der Zwingli-Kirche - und es gibt eine tolle neue Platte auf NOLAND Tracks.

Der Jazzmusiker Uli Teichmann und seine Söhne Hannes und Andi sind verwurzelt in der Oberpfalz und international aktiv. Das Trio verbindet verschiedene Generationen alternativer Musikszenen, von denen die Musiker geprägt wurden und die sie mit-geprägt haben: Ende der 70er Jahre zog die Familie von München ins Dorf Kneiting, wo Uli und Lu Teichmann (†2016) von 1979 bis 1983 den „Jazzclub Kneiting“ betrieben. Schon ein paar Jahre darauf starten auch die Söhne ihre musikalischen Weg, mit der Punkband Totalschaden, später mit der Indieband beigeGT, als DJs und Live-Elektronik-Musiker. Von Regensburg sind die Teichmänner zunächst nach Berlin und dann in die Welt gezogen. Nun kommt das Familientrio für zwei familienfreundliche Konzerte in die Oberpfälzer Heimat.
Im Herbst 2023 ist das erstes gemeinsame Album mit unserem Vater Uli erschienen:

Als wir gefragt wurden einen Remix für Joãozinho Morgado, den "König der Trommeln" zu machen, freuten wir uns riesig: Ausgehend von unserer Liebe zu dreckigen, schnellen Kuduro-Beats haben wir uns von energiegeladenen angolanischen Rhythmen anstecken lassen.
Morgadinho wurde ursprünglich im Gravisom Studio in Lissabon aufgenommen, wo Joãozinho Morgado eine Jamsession mit dem Turma da Bênção Projekt von Conjunto Angola 70 & Paulo Flores orchestrierte.
Joãozinho wurde begleitet von Botto Trindade (Solo-Gitarre), Pirika Duia (Viola Ritmo), Mayo Bass (Viola Bass) und Galiano Neto (Schlagzeug). Koordiniert wurde die Session von Armando Gobliss.
Von dort aus brachten wir die Aufnahmen in unser Berliner Studio. Mit Respekt gegenüber dem Original, fügten wir Dub-Fragmente und lebendige, knackige analoge Live-Elektronik hinzu.
Unser housiges Stück Kalimada auf der anderen Seite nimmt Tänzer und Sequenzer mit auf einen schwebenden Ritt.

Wura Samba wird im August und September in Berlin sein, wo wir gemeinsam, nach unseren beiden EPs, an Material für ein Album arbeiten werden.
Für September suchen wir als Trio noch nach Auftrittsmöglichkeiten in Deutschland und Nachbarländern.
Unsere Musik ist sehr energetisch und tanzbar und funktioniert gut im Club-Kontext, aber auch als reines Konzert-Format. Wer Interesse oder Ideen hat, bitte direkt bei uns melden!

Die Konzerte im Musee de Beaux Arts, Montreal, Maison de la Culture Ahuntsic und Aga Khan Museum, Toronto waren der Auftakt des neu gegründeten Musiker*innen Netzwerkes Sabdagatitara, um den Komponisten Sandeep Bhagwati. „Śabdagatitāra" (Sanskrit: "the crossing ("tāra") of methods of making ("gati") sound ("śabda“)“, bezieht sich auf einen trans-traditionellen Ansatz des Musizierens und der künstlerischen Forschung, der die Musiken der Welt, unabhängig davon, wo und in welchem Kontext sie entstanden sind, als eng miteinander verbunden wahrnimmt und erlebt. >> Sustainable Listening @ Staatsoper Berlin
Wie einleitend erwähnt fand kürzlich der fünfte Teil der Sustainable Listening Reihe im Apollosaal der Staatsoper Berlin statt. Dort interagieren wir live-elektronisch mit Musikerinnen des Orchesters des Wandels.
Dazu sind Experten eingeladen über Nachhaltigkeitsthemen zu sprechen. Beim 5ten Teil war das der Politikwissenschaftler Lasse Thiele mit einem spannenden Beitrag zum Thema »Work & Time« und Musik u.a. von Xenakis, Nono, Strauss, Schostakowitsch und einer Teichmann Homage an Ligeti.
Wir freuen uns sehr, dass die Reihe nun verlängert wird. Die nächsten Termine sind am 05.03.2026 und 05.06.2026.

Dear companions and interested people,
We've had a lot happening in the last few weeks: we've been in Canada with the newly founded musician network Sabdagatitara, played with some great Canadian musicians and had wonderful concerts in Montreal and Toronto. Back in Berlin, we returned to the Staatsoper as part of the Sustainable Listening series. There were also DJ sets at Drop Out in the Club der Visionäre and at the Karneval der Kulturen, which showed us how much DJing still means to us and how much we enjoy it.
The annual street party in front of the Kulturraum Zwingli-Kirche on Rudolfplatz, this time with Candie Hank aka Patric Catani, Ravi Srinivasan and Hannes, also remains in our memories: there are far too few opportunities for parents, children and grandparents to dance together.
Energized by this, we are now looking forwards. There are more opportunities to hear us - including in our home region, the Oberpfalz, together with our father, with Robyn Schulkowsky at Fusion and with Hackedepicciotto in the Zwingli Church - and there's a great new record coming out on NOLAND Tracks.

Jazz musician Uli Teichmann and his sons Hannes and Andi are rooted in the Oberpfalz region and active internationally. The trio connects different generations of alternative music scenes, which have influenced the musicians and which they have contributed to shaping: At the end of the 1970s, the family moved from Munich to the village of Kneiting, where Uli and Lu Teichmann (†2016) ran the “Jazzclub Kneiting” from 1979 to 1983. Just a few years later, the sons also began their musical careers, with the punk band Totalschaden, later with the indie band beigeGT, as DJs and live electronic musicians. From Regensburg, the Teichmänner first moved to Berlin and then out into the world. Now the family trio is coming home to the Upper Palatinate for two family-friendly concerts.

When we were asked to do a remix for Joãozinho Morgado, the “King of Drums”, we were really happy: Based on our love for dirty, fast kuduro beats, we got infected by energetic Angolan rhythms.
Morgadinho was originally recorded at Gravisom Studio in Lisbon, where Joãozinho Morgado orchestrated a jam session with the Turma da Bênção project by Conjunto Angola 70 & Paulo Flores.
Joãozinho was accompanied by Botto Trindade (solo guitar), Pirika Duia (viola ritmo), Mayo Bass (viola bass) and Galiano Neto (drums). The session was coordinated by Armando Gobliss.
From there we brought the recordings to our Berlin studio. With respect to the original, we added dub fragments and lively, crisp analog live electronics.
Our housey track Kalimada on the other side takes dancers and sequencers on a floating ride.

Wura Samba will be in Berlin in August and September, where we will be working together on material for an album following our two EPs.
As a trio, we are still looking for performance opportunities in Germany and neighboring countries for September.
Our music is very energetic and danceable and works well in a club context, but also as a pure concert format. If you are interested or have any ideas, please contact us directly!

The concerts at the Musee de Beaux Arts, Montreal, Maison de la Culture Ahuntsic and Aga Khan Museum, Toronto were the kick-off of the newly founded musicians' network Sabdagatitara, around the composer Sandeep Bhagwati. “Śabdagatitāra” (Sanskrit: “the crossing (”tāra“) of methods of making (”gati“) sound (”śabda“)”, refers to a trans-traditional approach to music-making and artistic research that perceives and experiences the musics of the world as closely interconnected, regardless of where and in what context they were created. Our projects seek to explore these cross-connections through artistic music-making. You can find more information here:

As mentioned in the introduction, the fifth part of the Sustainable Listening series recently took place in the Apollosaal of the Staatsoper Berlin. There we interact live-electronically with musicians of the Orchestra of Change.
Experts were invited to talk about sustainability issues. At the 5th part, this was the political scientist Lasse Thiele with an exciting contribution on the topic of “Work & Time” and music by, among others Xenakis, Nono, Strauss, Shostakovich and a Teichmann homage to Ligeti.
We are delighted that the series has now been extended. The next dates are: 05.03.2026 and 05.06.2026
